Biography

SARO reveals himself through his creative universe.

Originally from Switzerland, this artist grew up in the suburbs of Lausanne, a city that was the roller capital of the world in the mid-90s.

The International Roller Contest, the world’s biggest event for the sport, attracted the best American and European riders every year.

It was against this backdrop that SARO, an avid roller-skater, opened the doors to a variety of urban artistic expressions.

This is how he discovered and was seduced by hip-hop culture and the graphic universe that goes with it. Daily Bread magazine, dedicated entirely to rollerblading, Cypress Hill, a West Coast rap group, and Arlo Eisenberg, a pioneer of aggressive rollerblading and graphic designer, were his first sources of inspiration. A self-taught artist, in the early 2000s he discovered the work of Keith Haring, David LaChapelle and Andy Warhol. He experimented with painting and exhibited for the first time in a local café-restaurant. But it was with a camera that he felt most at ease.

Alongside his engineering studies, he devoted himself to photography and digital art. His work is now on permanent display in prestigious art galleries.

Accumulating a phenomenal amount of poster shots, stickers, graffiti and idiosyncrasies found on the streets, SARO uses these elements, collected mainly in European and American cities, as well as in Lausanne’s neighborhoods, to create mosaics depicting bewitching women with a very specific message.

Since 2023, SARO has been giving back to the street what it has given to him, by pasting his works on the walls of Romande Switzerland and neighboring France. In 2024, SARO was chosen to design the poster for the first street art festival in the Val d’Arly. On this occasion, SARO created his first fresco, a mosaic made up of 400 photo-ceramics.

The artwork

Accumulating a phenomenal quantity of poster shots, stickers, graffiti and oddities found on the streets, SARO uses these elements, collected mainly in European and American cities, as well as in Lausanne’s neighborhoods, to create mosaics representing bewitching women with a very specific message.

Through his work, SARO once again demonstrates his admiration for women. He reveals his perception of feminine beauty.

Initially in complete disorder, the hundreds of selected shots gradually become organized into a mosaic celebrating all the facets that make women strong and beautiful. His work explores themes such as the passage of time, the quest for perfection, intergenerational relationships, the inner and outer aspects of femininity, easiness and difficulties, happiness and joy.

By capturing intimate and powerful moments, SARO seeks to reveal the complexity and diversity of women’s experiences, while inviting reflection on social norms and stereotypes. His artistic creations highlight women’s strength, resilience and vulnerability, offering an authentic representation of feminine beauty.
